Dear Pioneer Academy Families:
We hope that you and your family are in good health. It has been 6 weeks since we transitioned to remote learning and, because of COVID-19 transmission concerns, we will remain in remote learning until the end of the school year, on June 26th, 2020. We understand we are living in challenging times, but it is important that our scholars remain engaged in the learning activities.
Each day, our scholars are expected to do the following:
- i-Ready Reading & i-Ready Math (Parent video, English)
- I -Ready Reading & I Ready Math (Parent video, Spanish)
- Google Classroom Literacy & Math Activities
- Zearn Math
- IXL, RAZ-Kids (for some scholars)
To further engage our scholars in remote learning and provide additional instructional support, our teachers will continue to provide live lessons using Google Meet. The links for live and record lessons will be posted on each teacher's Weekly Remote Learning Schedule.
If your child still does not have an internet enabled device, please call (718)935-5100, and choose option 5 to request a device. You may also visit the following website: https://coronavirus.schools.nyc/RemoteLearningDevices.
You will need your child’s ID number, which is located on your child’s report card. If you do not have your child’s ID number, your child does not remember the username or log in information for any of our digital platforms, or you have any general questions or concerns, contact:
- Your child’s teacher
- email Ms. Eichner, at firstname.lastname@example.org; or
- Ms. Prince, at email@example.com.
Last week, Chancellor Carranza announced the new grading policy for the 2019 – 2020 school year. For our scholars’ final report card grades, they will receive either of the two grades: MT, for Met Standards or N, for Needs Improvement. It is extremely important for our scholars to continue their i-Ready lessons daily to ensure they make significant academic growth toward meeting or exceeding the grade level expectations.
Over the next few weeks, you will be able to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss your child’s academic progress. Your child’s teacher will meet with you via Google Meet, or by phone. You may reach out to your child’s teacher requesting an appointment via Class Dojo, or you can send your child’s teacher an email with a telephone number to reach you.
We wish you and your family continued safety and good health.
Dr. Cecilia Jackson
